International Conference cum Workshop on Biomedical Research (ICWBR - 2024) on 21.03.2024

The International Conference cum Workshop on Biomedical Research (ICWBR - 2024) was organized by the Department of Physiology and WHITE Lab in collaboration with the Association of Physiologists of Tamil Nadu on 21st March 2024.

ICWBR - 2024 was inaugurated at 9 AM on 21st March 2024 in the Decennial Hall with 8 members of the organizing committee drawn from the Department of Physiology, Saveetha Dental College, and Hospitals. The organizing committee identified subject expertise from around the world, obtained approval for their willingness to support the conference, and formed an advisory board comprising an International speaker, Dr. Arvind K. Chandel, Ph.D., Professor, Department of Chemical System Engineering, School of Engineering, The University of Tokyo, Japan, and National speakers Dr. Sanjay M. Cherian, MBBS, MS, MD, PhD, DSc, FRCS, Vice President and Consultant Cardiac Surgeon, Frontier Lifeline Hospital (Dr. KM Cherian Heart Foundation), Chennai, and Dr. I. Paavai, MDS, PhD, Professor & Head, Department of Periodontics, Priyadharshini Dental College and Hospital, Chennai. A total of 198 participants were registered from various institutions.

The conference commenced with an inaugural session that included a welcome address by Dr. Vasugi Suresh, Organizing Secretary, ICWBR - 2024. An inaugural address was given by Registrar Dr. Sheeja Varghese and a Presidential Address by Dean Dr. S. Aravind Kumar.

The session-I commenced at 9:30 a.m. with the first keynote lecture titled "Multidisciplinary Collaborations - The Need of the Hour; Innovation Leading to the First 3-D Printed Heart Valve in India" by Dr. Sanjay M. Cherian, MBBS, MS, MD, PhD, DSc, FRCS, Vice President and Consultant Cardiac Surgeon at Frontier Lifeline Hospital (Dr. KM Cherian Heart Foundation), Chennai. This was followed by a tea break at 10:00 a.m.

Session-II began at 10:15 a.m. with the second keynote lecture on "Scaffold in Tissue Engineering'' by Dr. I. Paavai, MDS, PhD, Professor & Head of the Department of Periodontics at Priyadharshini Dental College and Hospital, Chennai. 

The session continued with the third keynote lecture at 11:00 a.m. titled "Advancements in Post-Operative Adhesion Barrier Materials: Innovations, Challenges, and Future Directions'' (Online) by Dr. Arvind K. Chandel, PhD, Professor at the Department of Chemical System Engineering, School of Engineering, The University of Tokyo, Japan.

Following the lunch break, session-III commenced, followed by a workshop at 1:00 p.m. conducted by Dr. Jayalakshmi, Chief Scientist, and her team. A demonstration was given on various instruments in the WHITE, Maroon 7, Silver, Orange, and Green Lab. This demonstration was arranged by the Department of Physiology and WHITE Lab.

After the workshop, the participating students were presented with certificates. The conference ended with a vote of thanks.

The participants were MBBS, BDS, and B.Tech students, research scholars, and faculty from SIMATS.

INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON SLEEP TRANSITIONS (INSYST – 2023)

International Symposium on Sleep Transitions (INSYST-2023), which was organized by the Department of Physiology, Saveetha Dental College & Hospitals and jointly collaboration with the Association of Physiologists of Tamilnadu on 10th August 2023.

The organizing committee identified subject expertise around the world, obtained approval for their willingness to support the symposium, and formed an advisory board composed of an International speaker, Dr. Kavitha Ganesh, Professor & chair of Anatomy from Saudi Arabia and National speaker Dr. Mathangi, Head, Department of Mind Body medicine & lifestyle sciences, Chennai. A Total of 202 participants were registered from various institutions. It includes 111 Oral/Paper presentations.

The symposium began with an inaugural session that included a welcome address by Dr. Vasugi Suresh, Organizing secretary, INSYST-2023 and conference overview by Mrs. Uma Maheshwari. An Inaugural address was given by Vice Chancellor Dr. Chadaram Sivaji, Felicitation address by Registrar Dr. Sheeja Varghese, Presidential Address by Dean Dr. S. Aravind Kumar. The guest of honor Dr.K.Dilara, President, Association of Physiologists of Tamilnadu delivered the special address.

The first Keynote lecture on “Profiling of patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea” was delivered by Prof. Dr. D. C. Mathangi, Head, Department of Mind Body Medicine & Lifestyle sciences, Faculty of Allied Health science,Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher education & research, Chennai, India. This session was chaired by Dr. Kavitha Ganesh.

         The second keynote lecture on “Sleep disordered breathing Anatomical perspective” was delivered by Prof. Dr. Kavitha Ganesh, Professor & Chair of Anatomy, Faculty of Medicine, Princess Noura Bint Abdulrahman University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This session was chaired by Dr. Elangovan Chandraselvi, Professor of Physiology, Anna medical college, Mauritius.

           Scientific sessions were conducted in various halls. Totally 111 presentations were chaired by 10 external and internal chairpersons from various departments.

Dr. Kavitha Ganesh was the chief guest for the valedictory function. Nearly 30 winners received their winning certificates and trophies in the valedictory function.  The conference ended with a vote of thanks.

Nawarathna, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka in the topic of "JOURNEY AS A DENTIST & A PHYSIOLOGIST" on 13/04/2023. The participants were MBBS, BDS, and B.Tech students, research scholars, and faculty from SIMATS and other institutes in India. Welcome address was given by Dr. K. Kamala, Assistant Professor and Introduction of speaker was given by Dr. Vasugi Suresh, Professor & HOD, Department of Physiology, Saveetha Dental College and Hospital. She conveyed a massive information about the essence of each physiology. The program ended with a wonderful interactive session involving all attendees, followed by a vote of thanks by Dr. E. Dilipan, Assistant Professor-Research, Department of Physiology, Saveetha Dental College and Hospital, Chennai.

We, the Department of Physiology, organized the International webinar on "MULTIFUNCTIONAL NANO-COMPOSITES BASED SENSORS FOR BIOMEDICAL APPLICATIONS" on March 30th, 2023. The guest speaker for this event was Dr. Radhamanohar Aepuru, M.Tech, PhD., Assistant Professor, University of Chile, Santiago, Chile. The participants were MBBS, BDS, and B.Tech students, research scholars, and faculty from SIMATS and other institutes in India, and Chile. Introduction of speaker was given by Dr. Vasugi Suresh, Professor & HOD, Department of Physiology, Saveetha Dental College and Hospital. The speaker gave an introduction regarding the collaborative opportunity between SDC and University of Chile in terms of exchange program, postdoctoral fellowship etc. Dr. Radhamanohar was given a clear and highlighting talk on portable biosensors which can applies in medicinal field by using various potential nanomaterial’s. He conveyed a massive information about the essence of each bio-sensors. Stephen, Professor and Head, Department of Material Science, University of Madras, Chennai. The participants were BDS students, research scholars, and faculty from SIMATS. The program began with a welcoming address given by Dr. R. Gayatridevi, Associate Professor at Saveetha Dental College. The speaker gave a superb lecture to kick off the session. International Conference on Current Trends in Medicinal Chemistry 2023 scheduled January 24 & 25th January 2023.

We, the Department of Physiology, organized the International Conference on Current Trends in Medicinal Chemistry 2023 scheduled January 24 & 25th January 2023. The Keynote speaker for this event was Prof. RV. Managlaraja, University of Adolfo Ibanez, Santiago, CHILE; Prof. Sanjay Batra, Chief Scientist, Medicinal Chemistry CDRI, Lucknow; Prof. Praveen C. Ramamurthy, Nanoscience and Engineering, IISC, Bangalore; Dr. J. Selvin, Professor & Head, Microbiology, Pondicherry University; Dr. S. Saravanan, Scientist, CSIR-CSMCRI, Gujarat. The program began with welcome address by Dr. R. Gayatri Devi, Convenor & Associate Professor followed Presidential Address given by Dr. Chadaram Sivaji, Vice Chancellor, SIMATS. The speakers gave an intense lecture to kick off each session. The 178 participants were participated from various branches such as MBBS, BDS, and B.Tech students, research scholars, and faculty from SIMATS and other institutes in India, Saudi Arabia and Chile. In this conference, the participants presented 42 oral presentation and 64 poster presentation of their research findings. The program ended with a wonderful interactive session involving all attendees, followed by a vote of thanks given by Dr. E. Dilipan, Organizing Secretary & Assistant Pro fessor, Department of Physiology.

National Conference on “Pathophysiology of Zoonosis in Humans” on 24th November 2022

Department of Pathology and Physiology, Saveetha Dental College and Hospitals jointly organized a national conference on “Pathophysiology of Zoonosis in Humans” PZH-2022 on 24th November 2022. The goal of the conference was to bring together researchers and practitioners from academia and industry to focus on zoonotic infections and human pathophysiology of diseases and other related research areas and establish new collaborations. The keynote speakers for the conference were Dr. Raman, Professor from the Department of Microbiology, Saveetha Dental College and Hospitals, and Dr. Vasanthan, Assistant Professor, Department of Physiology,Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute, Puducherry, who was introduced by Dr. Monal and Dr. Gayathri Devi, respectively.

Dr. Raman elucidated the role of research priorities and the burden of zoonotic infections in humans. He went into great depth on the different zoonotic pathogens that potentially endanger people, and the role of research in the surveillance, monitoring and prevention of spillover of diseases.

Dr. Vasanthan spoke about the most common of zoonotic diseases; Rabies. His talk highlighted the pathophysiology of rabies and he also gave insights on the prophylaxis in case of a bite.

A total  of 14 participants presented their posters/ papers in the scientific session which was chaired by Dr. Lakshmi Narayanan and Dr. Abirami Arthanari.

Dr. Priyadhrashini R and Dr. Palati Sinduja presided over the scientific session as moderators. A total of 4 presentations were selected as the Best Paper/ Poster presentation by the judges. The conference concluded with a vote of thanks.

International webinar on "A PEEK INTO USING NEXT GENERATION SEQUENCING (NGS) FOR UNDERSTANDING BACTERIAL WHOLE GENOMES" on October 19th, 2022

We, the Department of Physiology, organized the International webinar on "A Peek into using Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) for understanding bacterial whole genomes " on October 19th, 2022. The guest speaker for this event was Dr. Parthiban Subramanian, M.Sc., Ph.D., Senior Postdoctoral Researcher National Agrobiodiversity Center, RDA (Govt. of Korea), Jeonju, Republic of Korea. The participants were MBBS, BDS, and B.Tech students, research scholars, and faculty from SIMATS and other institutes in India, Srilanka and Egypt. The program began with an Introductory speech by Dr. R. Gayatri Devi, Associate Professor followed welcoming address given by Dr. Pasiyappazham Ramasamy, Associate Professor at Saveetha Dental College and Hospital. The participants were BDS students, research scholars, and faculties of saveetha Dental college & hospitals. The event started with the welcome address by Dr. A.Jothi Priya, Assistant Professor, Saveetha Dental College, and then the session started with a wonderful talk by the speaker. He shared a wide knowledge of the essence under each heading.  He also insisted on what to follow and not while going for patent filing. The event ended with a great interactive session with the participants and a vote of thanks.

ALL INDIA VIRTUAL PHYSIO CREATICA 2022 - 9th AUGUST 2022

We, the Department of Physiology organized an All India Virtual Physio Creatica 2022 on 9th August 2022. The Conference was organized as an initiative to enhance the student’s ideology and creative thoughts on Physiology.  We have arranged multiple events in this conference namely, In sculpt/carving, Pencil sketching, Rough out, Best out of waste. Students from various colleges have actively participated in this conference and show cased their talents. The conference was started by the small welcome address by Dr. Sri Devi, Associate Professor, Department of Physiology and she had proceeded over the events further.   We had around 60 delegates from various colleges in and around.  The team of experts from different colleges chaired the session and awarded the 21 best teams. 3 teams among the 7 best teams were from our Saveetha Dental College. Finally, the valedictory function was proceeded by Dr. Gayatri Devi and Dr. Jothi Priya from the department.

Intellectual Property Rights and Patent Filing Procedure

We, the Department of Physiology organized a CDE Programme on “Intellectual Property Rights and Patent Filing Procedure” on May 21st 2022. The speaker for this event was Arun Kumar MD,Examiner of Patents & Designs, Intellectual Property Office, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India, Chennai. 20 participants of BDS students, research scholars and faculties of saveetha Dental college & hospitals participated in this event. The event started with the welcome address by A.Jothi Priya, Assistant Professor, Saveetha Dental College and then the session started with a wonderful talk by the speaker. The main motto of this program is to create an awareness about patent filing procedure among the participants. He shared a wide knowledge on the patent and importance on the essence under each headings.  He also insisted on what to follow and not while going for patent filing. The event ended with a great interactive session with the participants and vote of thanks given by Dr. Sridevi.G, Associate Professor, Department of Physiology, Saveetha Dental College and Hospitals, Chennai.

PREPARATION & PUBLICATION OF SCIENTIFIC MANUSCRIPT

We, the Department of Physiology organized a CDE Programme on “Preparation & Publication of Scientific Manuscript” on April 28th 2022. The speaker for this event was Dr.K.Kumar Ebenezar, Professor & Principal i/c, Faculty of Allied Health and Sciences, Chettinad Academy of Research & Education, Chennai. There are about 40 participants of BDS students, research scholars and faculties. The event started with the welcome address by Dr.A.Jothi Priya, Assistant Professor, Saveetha Dental College and then the session started with a wonderful talk by the speaker. This CDE programme was organized inorder to create an awareness among first and second year students about the research importance in their career. He shared many tips on manuscript writing and importance on the essence under each headings.  The event ended with a vote of thanks given by Dr. Sridevi.G, Associate Professor, Department of Physiology, Saveetha Dental College and Hospitals, Chennai.

Topic: Guest Lecture on "Give your Stress Wings and Let it Fly Away"

We, the Department of Physiology organized a Guest Lecture Programme on “Give your Stress Wings And Let It Fly Away” on April 23rd 2022. This guest lecture programme was organized inorder to create an awareness to overcome the stress among students in day today life. The speaker for this event was Mrs.Aruna, Assistant Professor, Sathyabama Institute of science & technology, Chennai. We had around 185 delegates from both the first and second year of BDS. The event started with the welcome address by Dr. Sridevi, Associate Professor, Saveetha Dental College and the session had started with a wonderful talk by the speaker. She had shared many tips on how to overcome stress with a wonderful interactive session. The event ended with an award ceremony given to I and II BDS students who won the topper in last week's performance. Vote of thanks was given by Dr. Jothipriya, Assistant Professor, Saveetha Dental College.

Dental Implants and Bone Graft fabrication and characterization in Dentistry

The Department of Physiology conducted a National Webinar entitled “Dental Implants and Bone Graft fabrication and characterization in Dentistry” on 10th March 2022 by Dr. Srividhya, Reader & HOD, Department of Biochemistry, Sathyabama Dental college & Hospital, Chennai. The program started with a Welcome address given by Dr.G.Sridevi, Associate Professor. There were about 98 participants from Saveetha Dental college and various other colleges. She shared her valuable ideas on various topics . We hope that her skill would help all participants to improve their activity in future and incorporate it in their research work. The programme wrecked with an excellent intermingling session. The programme ends with a Vote of thanks given by Dr.Jothi Priya, Assistant Professor, Department of Physiology.

International Conference on Cancer awareness 2022

We, the Department of Physiology organized an International Conference on Cancer awareness 2022 on World Cancer day February 4th 2022. The Conference was organized as an initiative to create awareness about cancer, its early diagnosis and treatment. The theme of the conference was Awareness on oral cancer, early diagnosis and prevention.  The conference had a keynote address by Dr. Rajeshkar N, Director, Department of Radiation Oncology, CBCC, Saveetha Dental college Campus.  We had around 55 delegates both from the National and International forum.  The keynote address was followed by ‘Animayo 2022’ where the 20 students presented the self prepared animated videos. The team of experts from different colleges chaired the session and awarded the 7 best teams. 3 teams among the 7 best teams were from our Saveetha Dental College. 

Faculty development programme on “Basics of Electrophysiology in neuroscience”

The Department of Physiology conducted a Faculty development programme on 23rd December 2021 entitled “Basics of Electrophysiology in neuroscience” by Dr. Priyesh C, Assistant professor, Department of Psychology, Christ University, Ghaziabad, New Delhi. 72 participants from our college and other colleges participated in the Faculty development programme. The Speaker has shared his valuable knowledge on Electrophysiology And its importance in neuroscience. He has also delivered vast information about EEG and ERP and its clinical significance. There was a doubt clearing session which was very informative and interactive. The programme ended up with a vote of thanks by Dr. Gayatri Devi, Associate prof, Department of Physiology.

Department of Physiology conducted a virtual webinar on “ROLE OF EXERCISE IN SPORTING TALENT”. The guest speaker is “Dr. Snehunshu Adhikari”, Cheif exercise Physiologist, Sports Authority of India, Kolkata. The Webinar started with the welcome address by Dr.Sridevi, Associate Professor, Department of Physiology. She addressed the gathering and gave a brief introduction about the speaker. The participants for this webinar are undergraduate, postgraduate, research scholars and faculties from various colleges in India. He explained about identifying the sporting talent, assessment in sporting talent, challenges facing during sports. The session has been ruined with great interactive session with the audience and speaker. The session ended up by giving vote of thanks by  Dr. S. Preetha, Assistant professor from the department of Physiology.

Department of Physiology conducted a virtual webinar on “RIGHT EATING SMILING GUT” by the speaker named Dr. ARUNTHATHI, Assistant medical Officer, Government Yoga and Naturopathy hospital, Chennai. Dr. Gayatri Devi, gave the welcome address and introduced the speaker to the audience. The participants for this webinar were Undergraduate and post graduate dental students and faculty from saveetha dental college and various other colleges. During the webinar, Dr. Arunthathi clearly explained about the dietary habits to be followed during the pandemic and also emphasized on how to maintain the health properly by balanced diet. She also explained about the various yogic aspects for the treatment of Covid which made the students more interesting towards the topic. At the end of the session, many students have voluntarily stood up and asked and shared many useful information’s and questions to the speaker. The programme ended up with a massive interactive session with the audience and the speaker. Vote of thanks was given by Dr. S. Preetha.

The Webinar started off with the welcome address by Dr. JothiPriya, Assistant Professor, Department of Physiologyand introduced the speaker to the audience. The participants for this webinar wereundergraduate and post graduate dental students and faculty from saveetha dental college and various other colleges. During the workshop Dr. Kathiresan Natarajan clearly explained about the clinical aspects of yoga and Naturopathy before and now. He also explained about the various yogic aspects for the treatment of Covid which made the students to keenly observe to the lecture. At the end of the session, many students have voluntarily stood up and asked and shared many useful information’s and questions to the speaker. The programme ended up with a massive interactive session with the audience and the speaker. Dr. Sridevi, Head of the department, gave the vote of thanks.

Department of Physiology and Biochemistry was conducted a Webinar Series IV on 3th December 2020 entitled as “Clinical interpretation of Nerve conduction studies - In vivo/In vitro - Principles, Essentials, Pitfalls”.   Dr. Anbuselvi S, is working as a Associate Professor in the Institute of Physiology and Experimental medicine, Madras Medical College, Chennai.  There are about 226 participants were joined the Webinar, 110 participants were from SIMATS and 116 participants from outside colleges. She shared her valuable knowledge on techniques, importance and drawbacks on nerve conduction studies. She also had given an ample idea about the procedure of nerve conduction studies.  We hope that her skill would help all participants to improve their research activity in future.  The programme wrecked with a excellent intermingling session.

Department of Physiology and Biochemistry conducted a virtual workshop on animal cell culture techniques and its applications by a Resource person named Dr. Bavanilatha, Associate professor, Department of Biotechnology, Satyabama Institute of Science and Technology on 31st March 2021. Dr. Sridevi, Head of the Department of Physiology, gave the welcome address and introduced the resource person to the audience. The participants for this virtual workshop were First year BDS students. During the workshop Dr. Bavanilatha demonstrated a clear video on various cell culture techniques which made the students to keenly observe to the techniques. At the end of the session, many students have voluntarily stood up and asked and shared many useful information’s and questions  to the resource person. The programme ended up with a massive interactive session and Dr. Kavitha from the Department of Biochemistry gave the vote of thanks…..

Department of Physiology and Biochemistry was conducted a Webinar Series II on 11th November 2020 entitled as “Role of ECG in Basic Medical Sciences”. Dr. S.Manikandan, is working as a Professor in the Department of Physiology, Tagore Medical College & Hospitals, Chennai. He shared an ample knowledge on basics of ECG and also emphasized its role on research. He also had given an idea about the low cost research by using heart rate variability. We hope that his experience would help all participants to improve their research activity in future. The programme ended with a good interacting session.

Department of Physiology conducted a CDE Programme on 29th February 2020 entitled as “Calcium Homeostasis & its significance in Dentistry” by Dr.N.Anuradha, Professor and Head, Department of Physiology from Sathyabama dental college and hospital. She delivered vast information about the calcium and its regulation. She also shared about the calcium importance in dentistry. Students were very interactive and we hope that this lecture would help the student in their future.

Department of Physiology conducted a CDE Programme on 14th December 2019 entitled as “Creative Thinking”.   MS.PREENU ASHOK, working as a Assistant Professor at CTTE College for women and practicing psychotherapist and clinical social welfare.  She started the talk with activity based on creative thinking. Students were enjoyed a lot and also how to think creative in all aspects. Students were very much enthusiastic and the lecture ended up with good interactive session.

Department of Physiology conducted a CDE Programme on 16th November 2019 entitled as “How to hack your nervous system”.   Dr. Vasugi, working as a Professor & Head in the department of Physiology, Priyadarshini Dental College, Chennai.  She shared an ample knowledge on vagus nerve and also emphasized about natural technique to control vagal tone during stress condition and increased sympathetic activity.  We hope that her experience would help our students to tune their vagal tone in their future and also improving their concentration level in their activity.  The programme ended with an awarding session.  Chief Guest awarded the students who secured top marks in their test I & II of the first year subject.

Department of Physiology and Pharmacology successfully conducted a CDE Programme on 6th April 2019 entitled as “Health for All”. Dr. Vijayashree Mahadevan, Trustee of Sri Matha cancer Care delivered motivational thoughts among the students on developing the individual health care and thereby extending community health care to all.  Dr. Anand Priya, Asst professor from SRMC delivered a wonderful talk on diet, physical activity and thus maintaining an entity good health. She also made the students to take an oath on “I am responsible for my health”. She ended up her talk by saying that Our Health is Real Wealth.

Department of Physiology conducted a CDE Programme on 30th March 2019 entitled as “It’s now or never” by Mrs. Navukkarasi from Annai Veilankanni College of Arts and Science and a certified soft skills trainer. She delivered motivational thoughts among the students on developing the soft skills and personal empowerment.  Students were very interactive and the lecture came up with inspiring thoughts.

Department of Physiology conducted a CDE Programme on 28th March 2019 entitled as “CIRCADIAN CLOCK- IMPACT AND OPPURTUNITIES IN CHRONOTHERAPEUTIC MEDICINE” by  Dr. Sridevi from Sathyabama Dental College and Hospitals. She shared a wide knowledge on Chronotherapeutics and its impact on the Circadian Rhythm among the students.  Students were very much enthusiastic and the lecture ended up with good interactive session.

CDE Programme on 19th January 2019 entitled as “DRUG RESISTANT BACTERIAL INFECTIONS IN HUMAN MOUTH” by  Dr. Ramesh Kumar.  He is currently working as a National Post Doctoral Fellow in the  Department of science and Technology, YRG Center of AIDS Research Foundation, VHS Hospitals, Chennai.  He shared a wide knowledge on drug resistance bacterial infections in oral cavity among the students .  He emphasized more on the  current research activities which are trending now a days which makes the students more interesting. 

CDE Programme on 17th November 2018 entitled as “Healthy life style” by  Dr. Mohammed Yosuf.  He is working as an Lead therapist in Hyundai motors private limited.  He shared a wide knowledge on how to maintain healthy life style among the students .   He also taught few stretch  exercise to the students  to follow regularly  and  thereby maintain a healthy life. We trust that his experience would have provided our students to avoid sedentary life style and follow active healthy life.  The programme was wrecked with an excellent interactive session.

CDE Programme on 29th September 2018 entitled as “Sleep Physiology”.   Dr. Satyanarayanan, working as an  Assistant Professor  in the department of Physiology, Dr. ALM. Post Graduate Institute of Basic Medical Sciences, Madras University, Taramani.  He shared a wide knowledge on sleep physiology and also emphasized the current research activities on hormonal changes in sleep deprivation.  The Participants were first year BDS and BSC students.  We hope that his experience would have provided our students clues for designing their own projects in the near future.  The programme ended with an interactive session.

Department of Physiology conducted CME on respiratory Medicine on April 8th 2017. Talk was given by Prof. Gangadharan & Prof.Sundar from Saveetha Medical college & MMC.

CON AP 2017

We the department of Physiology and Anatomy conducted a National conference on clinical implications and developmental Anomalies on June 24th Saturday 2017. Almost 80 students across all dental colleges had actively participated in the conference and also had won many prizes and medals for their best presentation. The programme was started off with the registration and almost 80 participants were participated including the students from saveetha Dental College. The mode of presentation was paper and eposters on the conference. Faculties from other Dental Colleges also presented their research papers. Finally the valedictory function was headed by Dr. Gowri Sethu, Professor & Head, Department of Physiology and Mrs. Thenmozhi, Head of Anatomy department.

CDE programme on “A NOVEL RESPONSE CONCEPT IN ULTRA HIGH DILUTED SUBSTANCES” on 14-10-2017 at the decennial Hall, saveetha dental college, Chennai. Dr.GANESH LAKSHMANAN was invited to deliver lecture. The lecture was very interactive and informative. Students found the lecture to be very interesting and useful.

The Department of Physiology organized CDE programme on “A TOOTH FOR AN EYE” on 31-03-2018 at the decennial Hall, saveetha dental college, Chennai. Dr. Ramya Ravindran, M.B.B.S, M.S, FICO, FMRF, ophthalmologist from sankar nethralaya was invited to deliver lecture. She delivered the lecture on osteo odonto keratoprosthesis for corneal blindness. The lecture was very interactive and informative. Students found the lecture to be very interesting and useful.
